The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASBAE) has been providing the world with education and scientific information since 1907. The mission of ASABE is to facilitate the exchange of technical information and promote the science and art of engineering in agricultural, food, and biological systems. As part of fulfilling this mission ASABE provides an international center for standards and agricultural engineering practices.

General topic areas covered by ASABE standards include

  • biological engineering
  • food and process engineering
  • information and electrical technologies
  • power and machinery
  • soil and water
  • structures and environment
  • ergonomics safety and health

As world population swells more food, energy, and goods are required. But limited natural resources demand that more be produced with less. Biological and agricultural engineers are responding with viable, environmentally sustainable solutions. The success of these efforts is expanding in such related biological fields as medicine, pharmacy, and bioinstrumentation. ASABE standards help to ensure that higher productivity does not degrade the environment and document new ways to use agricultural products, byproducts, and wastes.

ASABE Manufacturing Standards Collections:

The ASABE standards collection includes active standards, engineering practices and data on the performance and characteristics of a wide variety of agricultural related subject, such as

  • agricultural field equipment
  • farmstead equipment
  • structures
  • soil and water resources management
  • turf and landscape equipment
  • forest engineering
  • food and process engineering
  • electric power applications
  • plant and animal environment
  • waste management

ASABE standards, publications, and engineering practices are available in hardcopy format on an individual purchase basis or as online subscriptions. Online subscriptions of standards assure that you have the most up to date collection of standards from ASABE available. IHS assures that ASABE online collections are updated on a daily basis. You don’t need to spend resources on maintenance and notifications to users of updates.
