ASME BPVC 2010 Edition Provides Current Engineering Standards
The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) from ASME provides engineering professionals with critical information establishing rules of safety governing the design, fabrication, maintenance and inspection of:
- boilers and pressure vessels
- power producing machines (and associated subsystems)
- nuclear power plant components
Originating in 1914, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is now adopted in part, or in its entirety, by all 50 states and numerous municipalities and territories of the United States and all the provinces of Canada.
Advancements in design and material and the evidence of experience are constantly being added to the BPVC by Addenda. The 2010 edition of the BPVC updates the previous code, issued in 2007, incorporating previously issued addenda and reflecting advancements in methods and materials.

The ASME BPVC is divided into the following 12 sections.
ASME BPVC 2010 contains revisions to all sections of the code except Sections VI and VII.
The International BPVC establishes rules of safety governing the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant components during construction. The objective of the rules is to provide a margin for deterioration in service. Using the current version of the BPVC assures that your decisions are based on the latest information.
