BPVC-X -  BPVC Section X-Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Pressure Vessels

Section X of the ASME Boiler Pressure and Vessel Code (BPVC) focuses on the requirements surrounding the construction of reinforced plastic pressure vessels.  This section includes two classes of vessel design:

  • Class 1
    • Qualification through the destructive test of prototype
  • Class 2
    • Mandatory design rules and acceptance testing by non-destructive methods

The fabrication of these vessels is limited to:

  • Bag-molding
  • Centrifugal casting
  • Filament-winding
  • Contact molding

These vessels are not permitted to the following with lethal fluids:

  • Store
  • Handle
  • process
