The ASME Performance Test Codes collection contains engineering codes and standards applicable to a specific type of equipment as defined by the code. The five broad categories of equipment covered by ASME in these codes are:

  • ASME PTC 6: Steam Turbines - Performance and acceptance testing of steam turbines requiring a minimum amount of uncertainty. This code contains rules and procedures for the conduct and reporting steam turbine testing including mandatory requirements for pretest arrangements, instruments to be employed, their application and methods of measurement, testing techniques, and methods of calculation of test results.
  • ASME PTC 19.11: Steam and Water Sampling, Conditioning, and Analysis in the Power Cycle - In this code, ASME specifies and discusses the methods and instrumentation for testing boiler makeup and feedwater, steam, and condensate in relation to performance testing as may be required in Performance Test Codes in on-time acceptance testing and continuous performance monitoring.
  • ASME PTC 25: Pressure Relief Devices - This ASME code is applicable to pressure relief valves, rupture disk devices, breaking or shear pin devices, and fusible plug devices. The code instructions may also be applied to other pressure relief devicesm, including those on pressure tanks.
