Contaminated Sediments: Evaluation and Remediation Techniques
Fukue M
This STP contains the proceedings of the Third International Symposium on Contaminated Sediments, held in Shizuoka, Japan from May 23 to 25, 2006. This symposium was sponsored by the D18 Committee on Soil and Rock.
The papers and presentations delivered information on current knowledge in scientific and engineering topics related to surface water including sediments and benthos has been exposed to a wide variety of contaminants, such as organic compounds and metals. The objective of the symposium is to acquaint the attendees with the latest advances in the fields of environmental science and underwater engineering related to sediments, and to determine the various courses of future research.
This STP contains more than 30 papers covering topics such as:
- clay deposits
- calcium carbonates,
- marine sediment
- porosity
- total organic carbon (TOC)
- cadmium transport
- shear strength
- capping
- dredged sediments
- suspended solids
- electrokinetics
- electroosmosis
- capping
- capping
- dual-equilibrium
- natural attenuation
