Specification of Control Valves
Process Industry Practices
Publication Date:
Jun 1, 2002
Scope:
This Practice defines the minimum requirements for documentation, the valve body, testing, and inspection. This Practice also specifies generic requirements for all control valves on a project.
This document must be used with PIP PCCCV001 - Selection of Control Valves to size and specify the control valve.
This Practice is to be issued to the valve vendor, manufacturer, or supplier and is to be used with individual control valve data sheets. This Practice does not include requirements for motor-operated valves, on-off valves intended for emergency isolation, or valves with hydraulic actuators.
Only general requirements are provided in this Practice. The individual requirements for each valve shall be included on the data sheet for each corresponding control valve (e.g., ISA20).
Purpose
This Practice defines the deliverables from the valve vendor, manufacturer, or supplier. In addition, the “Control Valve Specification Sheet,” included with this Practice, shall be used to communicate overall control valve requirements for a project.
The intention is that the project or site personnel complete this specification sheet for all the control valves for the project or site. This specification sheet allows the project or site personnel to customize requirements. This specification sheet is designed to reference other internal company or site requirement documents such as positive material identification (PMI). Individual control valve data sheets shall be filled out for each control valve to comply with the requirements of this Practice and with PIP PCCCV001.
