Scope:
I. SUMMARY
This report describes research performed at Texas A&M University
for the American Petroleum Institute (MI) to investigate sand erosion
in oil and gas production equipment. Included are the results of
a literature survey, an industry questionnaire, personal interviews with
oil company representatives concerning sand erosion problems, and
laboratory tests to simulate sand erosion in the field for typical
fittings. Data from the laboratory tests are compared for various
fittings, sand concentrations, and flow velocities.
