ASTM F989: Standard Test Methods for Spill Control Barrier Tension Members

1. Scope

1.1 These test methods cover laboratory-conducted performance tests for tension member subassemblies as used on spill control barriers. The test cover initial strength and resistance to weathering and specific environmental conditions.

1.2 Items covered by these test methods include wire rope, chain, and natural or synthetic fiber rope, webbing, and belts with attached terminations as used in the assembled barrier.
