Scope:

This practice covers the determination of roads and parking lots pavement condition through visual surveys using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method of quantifying pavement condition.

The PCI for roads and parking lots was developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (1, 2).2 It is further verified and adopted by DOD and APWA.

The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The SI units given in parentheses are for information only.
