Scope:
This Practice contains three data forms for providing
requirements for cylindrical shell, single-wall containers for dry
bulk solids (i.e., bins, hoppers, silos, and gravity blenders)
having internal design pressures not exceeding 15 psig (103 kPa)
and/or full vacuum external pressure at the top of the container in
its normal operating position, and are welded, shop- and
field-fabricated, and generally in accordance with the philosophy
and requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code, Section VIII, Division 1, henceforth referred to as the
Code.
This Practice is required to be used with PIP VECBI001 and
PIP VESBI002 to specify requirements, not otherwise specified,
that are required by the Manufacturer to design and fabricate a
bulk solids container.
This Practice also provides instructions to the Purchaser and
the Manufacturer for inserting data and information in the three
data forms.
Purpose
This Practice provides data forms and the associated
instructions for specifying requirements for dry bulk solids
containers (bins, hoppers, silos, and gravity blenders).
