Scope:

These requirements cover video and audio equipment operated and maintained by trained personnel under the conditions of controlled access.

These requirements cover such equipment as video tape recorders, audio/video editing equipment, audio/video receiving and processing equipment, signal transmission equipment, television cameras, video digitizers, video monitors, metering equipment and similar equipment.

This Standard also covers auxiliary equipment and accessories which by themselves may not perform the desired function of the equipment outlined in 1.2 but are used in addition to or as a supplement to the basic equipment (remote controls, convertors, stands, etc.).

These requirements cover equipment rated 600 volts or less for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.

Equipment employing circuits that are intended to connect directly to a telecommunications network shall also comply with the applicable requirements in the following relevant standards:

a) Standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment, Including Electrical Business Equipment, CSA C22.2 No. 950-95/UL 1950, Third Edition

b) Standard for Information Technology Equipment, UL 60950

c) Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety – Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1

d) Standard for Audio-Video Products and Accessories, UL 1492

e) Standard for Audio/Video and Musical Instrument Apparatus for Household, Commercial, and Similar General Use, UL 6500

f) Standard for Audio, Video, and Similar Electronic Apparatus-Safety Requirements, UL 60065

These requirements do not cover products that are intended for household or commercial use.
