Scope:
This standard comprises the fundamentals of good practice in
industrial exhaust systems installed to prevent unhealthy or unsafe
environmental conditions or to minimize nuisances.
The scope of these fundamentals is restricted to normal and typical
practice. Practical circumstances, goals and objectives, and special
technical problems encountered in practice cover an extremely wide range
which makes complete coverage in scope impractical.
Although this standard involves the application of the laws of fluid
flow, as well as other basic scientific concepts, the purpose is to
apply these fundamental concepts only to the range of industrial exhaust
