Scope:
This Practice addresses the examination of materials, components, fabrication, assembly, installation, and records. Extent of examination, criteria for acceptance, and correction of defective work are covered for metallic, lined metallic, and nonmetallic piping. Types of leak tests, how to select, and arrangements for testing piping are also covered.
Purpose
This Practice describes examination and leak testing requirements and recommendations to those designing piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code, hereinafter referred to as the Code.
