General.

This standard contains requirements for the maternal, design, manufacture and testing of serially produced, refillable Type NGV2 containers intended only for the storage of compressed natural gas for vehicle operation. These containers are to be permanently attached to the vehicle. Type NGV2 containers shall not be over 1,000 liters (35.4 cu ft) water capacity.

Where the word "shall" is used in this code, it indicates a requirement unless approved otherwise by the authority having jurisdiction.

Container Type.

Type NGV2 containers are designated as follows:

NGV2-1. Metal.

NGV2-2. Resin impregnated continuous filament with metal liner with a minimum burst pressure of 125% of service pressure. The container may be either hoop-wrapped or full-wrapped.

NGV2-3, Resin impregnated continuous filament with metal liner. The container may he either hoop-wrapped or full-wrapped.

NGV2-4. Resin impregnated continuous filament with a non-metallic liner.
