BSI British Standards recognized four organizations in its second ISO 14001 Awards, which are open to any U.K. organization certified to ISO 14001, an international environmental management system standard.
The winners in the four categories are:
- Large organization: Land Securities Group.
- Small or medium enterprise: Park Lane Press Ltd.
- Public-sector organization: CORMAC.
- Overall prize for innovation: Office Depot.
ISO 14001 sets out the method for implementing an environmental management system, enabling an organization to reduce its environmental impact while maintaining profitability or other key objectives, BSI said.
Supported by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), BSI British Standards said it recognized organizations that have explored the potential of ISO 14001 with regard to good environmental practice.
Mike Low, director of BSI, said, "BSI British Standards is delighted to recognize the achievements of the four winners of the ISO 14001 awards.
"They have demonstrated the environmental impact of implementing ISO 14001 and also the marked improvements that ISO 14001 has made to their operations. … It is a great opportunity for organizations to demonstrate their environmental credentials and achieve recognition for the work they have put into implementing the standard," he said.
