In collaboration with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will present five virtual seminars on sustainable engineering, beginning March 15, 2007.
The five ASME-AIChE programs will present case studies on the successful application of sustainable engineering practices at leading global firms, including Wal-Mart and Bristol-Meyers Squibb.
The first seminar on March 15 is Shaping Your Sustainability Strategy and Moving to Action, and will feature presentations and commentary from Richard E. Feigel, past president of ASME, and Calvin Cobb, chair of the AIChE Institute for Sustainability.
Seminars to follow include:
- Tools for Measuring Sustainability Performance (March 22).
- Sustainability Tools: Applying Life-Cycle Assessment (March 29).
- The Business Case for a Sustainable Enterprise (April 5).
- Designing to Meet Sustainability Objectives (April 12).
The seminars are for engineering practitioners who may be implementing sustainable practices in their companies and who want to learn about the relationship between sustainable development and corporate profitability.
