IHS Global Insight Economic Forecasters Earn Top MarketWatch Award

IHS Global Insight domestic economic forecasters Brian Bethune and Nigel Gault won the January "forecaster of the month" award from MarketWatch, the Dow Jones & Co. business and financial web site.

The announcement marks the third time in four months that Bethune and Gault gained the top slot from MarketWatch.

According to an article on the MarketWatch web site, Economy needs help urgently, top forecasters say, the IHS Global Insight team produced "... the most accurate forecasts among 46 economists on three of the 10 economic indicators tracked in the monthly contest: ISM, the trade gap and new home sales."

Gault is chief U.S. economist for IHS Global Insight, overseeing the firm's macroeconomic forecasts and U.S. economic analysis. Bethune is managing director and chief U.S. financial economist for IHS Global Insight, responsible for financial economic analysis and forecasting.
