Search by society - "How can I find only those documents from the American Petroleum Institute?"
Just click on "Standards Developing Organizations" to select the SDO of your choice and the system search results will only bring up documents from that SDO. For example: Click on Standards tab at the top of the home page, then choose API/Petrol from the drop-down list. Next, click on the "View" button. Now you can search for documents only from the American Petroleum Institute by document number or keyword.
Search for recent documents only - "Have any ______ standards been added in the last month?"
Click on the "New/Revised Docs" link in the Services section of the home page, them type in the keyword of your choice. For example, if you type in the word "electrical" under "Document Title" for the week ending 8/19/01 the search returns 29 documents representing several SDOs - including some in French.
Browse new documents by industry - "What are the most popular standards in the field of Telecommunications?"
In the Standards and Publications section just click on "Telecommunications" and you will get a listing of over 20 standards in that field from various SDOs including: ANSI, Bellcore, TIA, UL and European Norms. You can also browse by: Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Electrical/Electronics, Energy/Petroleum, Government/Military, Health & Safety, Plastics, and Quality.
Changing your online account - "How do I change the billing address on My Account?"
Just click on the "My Account" button, select "Change Customer Information", enter your new information and click "Submit". Your information has been updated.
Find a local office - "My company has an office in Japan, how should they place an order with Global Engineering Documents®?"
They have several options:
1. Order online at store.ihs.com OR
2. Call their local Global Information Centre (GIC)
To find the GIC serving any country, simply click on "Worldwide Offices" at the bottom of the home page, select the country and hit "Search". The contact information for the nearest office will automatically pop up.
Get catalogs - "Do you have a catalog of the publications available from Global Engineering Documents®?"
Yes! Go to "Free Catalogs" under "Services" and you will find the Global Engineering Documents® Products and Services (P&S) Catalog which includes a representative sample of 1+ million items we carry. There, you will also find catalogs from some of our most popular SDOs in the fields of electronics, manufacturing, petroleum, telecommunications and welding.
Get discounts for deposit accounts - "In order to streamline my ordering process, can I open a pre-paid account for purchases from Global Engineering Documents®?"
Yes! AND receive a 10% DISCOUNT on most documents when you open a Global Deposit Account with a minimum deposit of $500. The account may be prepaid with a check, purchase order or credit card. To open a Global Deposit Account, U.S. customers simply call 800-854-7179 OR go to "Deposit Accounts" under "Services", download the application form and fax to Global at the number indicated.
