Q: What codes and standards does IHS stock?

Q: How do I get notified when a standard updates?
A: If you subscribe to the IHS Specs & Standards Service, you can create an online list and be notified by email of any changes. For general notices by industry, subscribe to one of our newsletters:

Q: Why are some standards expensive?
A: Publishers set the price. Sometimes you can find a cheaper price from a small vendor, but with the time you waste looking around and managing multiple vendors, it is usually more expensive. IHS is a One-Stop Shop - that's our biggest value. Beyond documents, IHS also provides tracking, searching, and other document management tools.

Q: How do I get a receipt, so that I can be reimbursed?
A: If you order on the phone, a receipt will be mailed to you. If you order online, you will be prompted to print your receipt at the end of your order. If you need additional help, call 877-413-5184 US/CAN or +303-792-2181 worldwide.

Q: Can I use AMEX to purchase?
A: Yes. IHS accepts AMEX, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and Diners.

Q: Customs Fees doubled the price of my document. Why?
A: This is true for some parts of the world. The alternative is to order electronic documents to avoid shipping fees and customs delays.

Q: What is IHS in relation to Global Engineering Documents?
A: IHS is the parent company. In the future, you will see the IHS brand taking the place of the older Global Engineering brand. Same documents, more services.

Q: Why is printing and saving restricted on some documents?
A: Some standards publishers have adopted security measures to protect their intellectual property. These changes seem restrictive, but they are necessary to protect the source. If you need an extra copy, buy it. Remember that violating copyright is like poisoning the well.

Q: Can I back order a document that is not yet available?
A: Yes. As soon as the document comes in, IHS will send it to you. Note that our systems do not provide a Status Update online. If you need the status, contact Customer Service at 877-413-5184 US/CAN or +303-792-2181 worldwide.

Q: Should I buy documents or subscribe to collections?
