NEMA, AASHTO, ITE Release Transportation Management Standards - NTCIP 1104 v01, NTCIP 8004 v01
June 12, 2009 // Published as a news service by IHS
Two transportation management standards - National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) 1104 v01 - Center-to-Center Naming Convention Specification, and NTCIP 8004 v01 - Structure and Identification of Management Information - were published by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).
NTCIP 1104 v01 defines the naming service for common object request broker architecture (CORBA) for use in center-to-center communications in the transportation domain.
NTCIP 1104 v01, a base standard that provides protocol definitions, may also be referenced by non-CORBA standards to define how certain items should be named.
NTCIP 8004 v01 specifies a set of rules and protocols for organizing, describing and defining transportation management information to be exchanged between applications and/or transportation equipment to encourage interoperability.
Specifically, NTCIP 8004 v01 defines how NTCIP 1200-series data dictionaries organize and identify objects, define object specifications, define meta-attributes and define management information bases (MIBs).
NTCIP 8004 v01 is intended for use in association with certain application layer protocols in transportation-related communications.
