Document management systems enable an organization to create, profile, search, check out, check in, save, and locate documents stored electronically.

This provides a scalable approach that includes:

  • Intelligent imaging
  • Standard vault functions
  • Change management
  • Workflow solutions

Documents are profiled with customizable attribute information, and may be retrieved from remote file servers using key words or phrases found in either the full text or the document profile. These systems offer version control, security, and storage management functions. An organization can elect to establish the document management system via a client/server setup, or access it via the Internet, corporate intranet or extranet.

IHS Document Management solutions facilitate the capture, manipulation, and distribution of document-based knowledge assets. Features include:

  • Ubiquitous user interface from desktop applications and the Web
  • Access from key corporate systems such as portals and enterprise resource planning tools
  • Fully scalable Document Management engine
  • Advanced search technology
  • Customizable security including role-based groups and permissions
  • Version, revision, routing, and approval history log and tracking
