What is IHS TACTRAC oms?
IHS TACTRAC oms is a complete obsolescence management tool. Bill of Materials or component manufacturer part number lists can be imported into TACTRAC oms, which are then automatically matched against the IHS semiconductor component database to provide information on manufacturer availability, FFF alternate part numbers, and predictive data. TACTRAC oms also allows you to monitor your manufacturer parts on a daily basis and receive email alerts of availability or predictive status changes.

How is TACTRAC oms installed?
TACTRAC oms is based on the Client Server Architecture and is installed locally at your facility. TACTRAC oms utilizes Microsoft SQL Server as the database. Windows-based client software is installed on user computers to access the database.

Can TACTRAC oms be installed anywhere?
TACTRAC oms can be installed on any user computer, either within your company or externally, as long as the computer has access to your network.

What are the advantages of Client Server Architecture?
With regards to TACTRAC oms, Client Sever Architecture offers complete protection of your important and valuable corporate data. At no time does your configuration leave the controls of your internal network. Only the manufacturer part numbers residing in your TACTRAC oms database are sent via the Internet, encrypted, to IHS.

Can TACTRAC oms Alert Notifications be emailed to me?
Yes. The TACTRAC oms server generates Alert Notice emails and sends them directly to the desk of the responsible person(s) on a daily basis.

Does TACTRAC oms provide a component database search tool?
TACTRAC oms comes with unlimited use of our web-based Component Look-Up tool. Accessing this tool does not require the TACTRAC oms software, and can be utilized by all employees at your TACTRAC oms installed geographic site location.

What is TACTRAC Component Look-Up?
TACTRAC Component Look-Up accesses the IHS semiconductor component database. All active devices, diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits can be searched by manufacturer part number or parametric description. All devices are cross-referenced for form, fit, and function equivalents; all quality levels including commercial, industrial, and military are shown. The IHS semiconductor component database provides the current production status and value-added information, including component lifecycle projection with “years to end of life” for each component. Data sheets are provided through a hot link to the manufacturer's web page.

What format does my data have to be in?
TACTRAC oms allows for any electronic format. The data can be in an indenture level hierarchical format or a flat list of part numbers.

Can I analyze my fully indentured Boms?
Yes. You can have up to 12 levels of indenturing using the indenture level hierarchical data import format.

Can I create Customized Reports in TACTRAC oms?
TACTRAC oms provides a client utility that allows you to create virtually an unlimited number of report formats. By using the advanced query function, you have the ability to extract the data you need out of your TACTRAC oms server. This data can also be exported to any electronic format for use in your own corporate databases.

What if I have questions regarding the database?
If you can't find a component that you think should be in the database, or if you have a question about a component, use the TACTRAC Component Look-Up Research Request feature, and our Data Management staff will research the component for you.

I use approved manufacturers in my designs. Can TACTRAC oms status me based on those manufacturers?
Yes. TACTRAC oms provides you with the ability to specify your approved manufacturer sources and will status those parts based on the availability of that manufacturer or manufacturers.
