1. IHS Compliance Standards Solutions Improve Worker Safety and Health While Saving
    Compensation Costs and Fine Assessments

Workplace safety is a concern in every company. The impact to a company can include: lost resources, downtime, fine assessments, increased insurance rates, profit loss, litigation costs and damaged image. According to OSHA's Office of Regulatory Analysis, "companies that implement effective safety and health programs can expect reductions of 20% or greater in their injury and illness rates and a return of $4 to $6 for every $1 invested."

An IHS compliance standards solution supports your worker safety initiatives by providing the critical safety standards required by federal regulations. Improve your safety programs and mitigate risk with access to some 250 U.S. and international standards and codes that are referenced within OSHA regulation 1910, including: ANSI, API, ASA, ASME, ASTM, AWS, BSI, IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, and UL. In addition, IHS compliance standards also increase productivity by providing automatic links to the industry standards you need, reducing your search and access time by up to 75%!

2. New ROI Tool Available for Aviation & Aerospace Industry Helps IHS Customers Quantify
    Their Savings

It should come as no surprise to you that IHS Aviation & Aerospace solutions increase your efficiency, accelerate the speed/time of repairs and streamlines your access to industry standards, compliance and regulatory data, but what if you could actually quantify the amount of money that utilizing the IHS solution saves you each year?

With an ROI calculation tool developed by Phormion specifically for IHS, you can translate your operation cost data, including salaries, downtime, hardware costs and virtually any other variable into a compelling argument and justification for using the IHS solution. The ROI tool was created specifically for the aviation industry and can be presented to management, the end user or purchasing to justify the time and cost savings realized through the use of electronic access to IHS Aviation & Aerospace solutions.

Contact your IHS sales rep for an analysis or to learn more about this ROI tool.

3. Now Available! CAPS(TM) BOM Manager

Minimizing supply chain cost and identifying parts lifecycle and product changes can be a daunting task. However, CAPS BOM Manager, now available from IHS, allows users to validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Parts Lists against the CAPS Database quickly and efficiently. The CAPS BOM Manager provides users with a streamlined BOM evaluation, which is matched against the largest database of electronic components in the industry and is continuously updated with lifecycle status information and new part documentation. The end result is a clean, accurate BOM that helps you to quickly validate internal parts lists and suppliers - directly from your desktop.

In addition, the BOM Manager stores all generated BOMs. This storage feature allows authorized users to re-check a BOM at any time to quickly identify all changes in part status that may have occurred. Additional value added features of the CAPS BOM Manager include:

  • Automated e-mail alerts for end-of-life (EOL) notices and part status changes

  • Flexible interface accepts Excel and CSV formats

  • Aliasing engine maps and remembers CAPS supplier names, allowing you to retain internal supplier names (e.g. You type TI and CAPS automatically connects you to Texas Instruments, Inc. supplier information)

  • Standardized part descriptions, manufacturer names, and current part status

4. IHS Intra/Spex(TM) Provides Customers with a Secure, Intranet Document Management Solution

For those of you with security requirements or concerns, IHS Intra/Spex provides the perfect Intranet solution in a fully secure application that is controlled 100% by the customer. 5. Plan Analyst: Building Code Compliance (Code Check and Plan Analysis) Software

The Plan Analyst range of software is now available through Global Engineering Documents, the retail arm of IHS. Plan Analyst is used by thousands of architects and building officials across the United States. Plan Analyst's output is a customized checklist and a correction report that enables architects to obtain building permits faster and building officials to check and issue permits more quickly.

The Plan Analyst software includes versions for: IBC 2000 and 2003, IRC 2000 and 2003, NFPA 101, NFPA 13, UBC 1997, NBC 1999, SBC 1997, 2002 Florida Building Code, Deck Calculator, Sign Calculator and the Beam and Column Calculator.
