4. Automotive Industry Trend: Black Boxes on the Highway

Your vehicle may already be equipped with some type of technology that acts as an event recorder (much like the black boxes used in aircraft) capable of giving testimony of what happened before and during an accident. In an effort to capture critical scientific data elements in automobile crashes and to aid in accident prevention, government agencies and safety organizations are promoting the use of Motor Vehicle Event Data Recorders (MVEDRs).

MVEDRs draft standards for on-board tamper and crash-proof memory devices are currently being developed for all types and classes of highway and roadway vehicles. These standards will define what data should be captured and how information should be obtained, recorded, and transmitted.

6. AEC Referenced Standards Collections - Coming Soon

The Referenced Standards subscription service will be released shortly and will benefit architects, engineers, contractors, building officials and other professionals in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry. The service contains most of the standards referenced within the 2003 I-Codes(including the Building, Residential, Mechanical, Fire and other codes) from the International Code Council (ICC). The standards are equally enforceable as the codes themselves.
