1. ASTM Redline Standards Now Available in Specs & Standards

ASTM is now offering their groundbreaking new product – Redline Standards – through IHS’ Specs & Standards Service. These new ASTM Redline Standards will help you quickly identify changes to previous versions, saving time, money, and effort, and increasing productivity.

What is an ASTM Redline? Redlines are PDF documents that easily enable a comparison of all the changes between an active ASTM standard and its previous version. With a redline document, any addition, deletion, or other change between the two standards are identified immediately. The Redlines can eliminate you having to compare ASTM’s last standard to their new standard, line-by-line, figure-by-figure!

2. Finding that Needle in a HAYSTACK® Just Got Easier

IHS’ Specs & Standards Service is now fully integrated with the HAYSTACK® Parts & Logistics Service. See how the combination of these products will save time by enabling seamless search capabilities between products for technical standards references (e.g. Mil Specs) and logistics information. HAYSTACK also delivers easier access with links to parts and sourcing information from over 800,000 corporate, historical, US, national, European, and international standards documents.

For more information, please contact our Inside Sales team at 800-716-3447 (USA/Canada) or 303-397-2896 (Worldwide).

3. Aviation/Electronics Standards Whitepaper Access in Aviation: Real Time Savings

IHS has a new white paper that discusses how electronic access to standards can significantly save the aviation industry time and money. The white paper includes numerous customer testimonials and examples that speak to the IHS technologies that help them significantly speed up their searches.

5. IHS URC Now Live

The IHS URC (University Resource Centre) is now live at http://www.ihsurc.com/. Targeted for academic professionals and students, the IHS URC is a universal reference delivering access to bibliographic information on millions of documents including technical and industry standards, archived and current research papers and developments. Plus, all this is available from a single box search. Check it out… full-text access was never easier!

The IHS URC includes Specs & Standards (index only at no cost), ESDU, TDNet, and CAPS Expert™, with IEEE coming later in 2004. For more information, please contact Chris Methven.

6. Increased Customer Protection and Security Enhancements to IHS ERC

IHS listens to its customer requests. As of April 1, the most current SSL encryption is in effect for ERC logins, enabling more secure access and identity protection for customer transactions. Your web user experience should not change, but one item to check is that your company’s firewall does not block http traffic (port 443) to these IHS URLs.

For more information or assistance, or to test your Internet or Extranet access to ERC, please call IHS Customer Service at 800-447-3352 (USA/Canada) or 303-397-2295 (Worldwide).

7. Specs & Standards Retail Integration

Do you need a specific document to complete your project, but it’s not part of your current subscription? With IHS’ Retail capability, documents you need are just a mouse click away. With ‘Retail’ enabled, documents that are not part of your collection have a BUY icon. Simply click the BUY icon to purchase individual electronic (PDF) documents for immediate download and/or hardcopy delivery.

You and your staff can quickly and easily purchase needed documents while maintaining your organization’s central control and funding of purchases. The IHS Gatekeeper System (available at no extra cost) is the perfect complement to IHS’ Retail capability. With this new system, users can order documents directly – saving time and avoiding project delays – and the orders route to management for approval.

The IHS Gatekeeper System is easy to set up and use. Upon notification, IHS will set up one of your employees to be the Gatekeeper Administrator for your account. The Gatekeeper Administrator has the ability to:

  • Establish the approval threshold level – documents priced at/under this limit are automatically processed; no approval required.

  • Approve/reject document purchases.

  • Add or remove additional ‘Gatekeeper Approvers.’ These additional Approvers can also view and accept/reject orders.

Here's how the IHS Gatekeeper solution works:

    1.  An individual places an order for a document.

    2.  All assigned Approvers receive email notification that an order has been placed.

    3.  Approvers log into the IHS Gatekeeper System with an assigned username/password and      view pending orders.

    4.  Purchases can be immediately accepted (or rejected) by the Approver(s).

    5.  The system notifies the Requestor via email regarding the approval/rejection decision.

    6.  Upon acceptance of the order, the Requestor has immediate access to documents ordered in      electronic format. Hardcopy documents are shipped to the Requestor via the method specified      on the order form.

It’s that easy!

Take advantage of the IHS Gatekeeper System and experience this streamlined document ordering process that will increase your staff’s productivity while controlling company budgets. For more information, please contact Cathy Wyatt.

8. Product Update: New HAYSTACK ERC

The next generation HAYSTACK on the ERC product offering is a leap forward in content and functionality previously available on the ERC. Customers can access this powerful parts and logistics research tool from any PC with Internet access and no additional software is required. This new product combines the navigation ease of a Windows environment with the versatility of HTML, to provide you with the most flexible and complete logistics research tool available.

Transitioning between HAYSTACK for Windows Online and the new ERC product is easy. A new tip sheet is available from within the product that shows users how to execute searches and take advantage of the new efficiencies and product capabilities. Long-time users of the ERC will notice content and capabilities that increases their ability to quickly identify parts. Parts identification is what HAYSTACK does best! With extensive data indexing, content from over 40 sources representing over 100 million parts, and a time-tested, proprietary search engine, HAYSTACK continues to optimize IHS users’ pursuit of parts data.

For more information, please contact your customer manager or our inside sales team at 800-716-3447 (USA/Canada) or 303-397-2896 (Worldwide).
