1. U.S. AND EUROPE SEEK TO IMPROVE ACCOUNTING STANDARDS

Wall Street is rocking and investor confidence worldwide has been shaken by the mis-accounting practices of some of America's corporate giants. Regulations put in place so far have not been adhered to and it appears to be the norm for corporate giants to handle their financial books anyway they choose. Is this to be the "standard" level of accountability for corporations domestically and abroad? Is pressure to please Wall Street behind such aggressive accounting? Well, the pressure is about to shift. The statement "Those entrusted with shareholders' money must strive for the highest of standards" - is about to become a reality in the U.S and Europe. Not only has the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced proposed new rules governing quarterly and annual reports, the European Union (EU) has also stated that it will adopt "tougher" accounting standards.

The WSJ (June 13, 2002), reported the EU plans to require companies listed on European stock exchanges to adopt International Accounting Standards (IAS). IAS implementation is expected to begin January 1, 2005, with a temporary exemption through January 1, 2007 offered to companies currently trading in the U.S.

4. TIPS FOR CAPS Expert™ USERS

Find Replacement Components More Easily:
CAPS Expert™ was recently enhanced to include new replacements features for electronic components. In addition to viewing "Direct, Upgrade, and Downgrade" replacements for exact fit, form and function, you can also locate a broader range of replacements by "Similar" function, "QBE (Query-by-Example)" function or view "Manufacturers Recommended Cross References."

Enhanced Replacements Features:

Newly added to the Direct/Upgrade/Downgrade replacements is the ability to search by "Similar" function. Choosing "Similar" replacements generates a list of all replacements that match only the component's function. This is ideal when specific pin configuration and packaging may be flexible. Also newly added is the ability to pre-filter your search by manufacturer and status values specific to your list of replacements. Select all, multiple or individual manufacturers by using Windows standard "Shift" and "Ctrl" key functions, the default is All.

Query-By-Example:

This hot new feature actually captures the most important parameters from the products detail and pre-populates a parametric search for replacements using those values. Once in the QBE search, it also offers you the convenience of removing or modifying individual parameters or adding new ones from the total list of parameters to narrow or expand your list of replacements.

Don't Forget . . .

When evaluating replacements and cross-references, you can select multiple part numbers and evaluate their characteristics side-by-side using the Compare feature. This time saving feature allows you to visually see the differences by color-coded better, worse or different characteristics. Simply select the "X" at the top of each device detail to remove it from the Comparison set.
